The Purpose of the C-Form

The C-Form is designed to ensure the safety and security of foreign nationals visiting India. It facilitates a system where the government can monitor and assist foreigners if necessary, enhancing the overall security framework. By requiring hotels, guest houses, and other accommodation services to register their foreign guests, the Indian government aims to keep a reliable record of international visitors.

Who is Required to Submit the C-Form?

Any accommodation provider hosting foreign guests is required to submit the C-Form. This includes hotels, guesthouses, dormitories, and even private residences used for commercial accommodation. Failure to comply with this requirement can lead to penalties, highlighting the importance of understanding and adhering to this process.

The Process of Filling and Submitting the C-Form

The submission process has been significantly streamlined thanks to digitalization. Accommodation providers need to register on the official Bureau of Immigration website, where they can fill out the C-Form online. The form requires detailed information about the guest, including passport details, visa information, and the purpose of visit, among other things.

The hotel is liable to send the information in the format of Form C to the nearest Foreigner’s Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or to the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) or local police station, within 24 hours of the arrival of a foreign national. In case the hotel fails to do so, the management shall be penalized with up to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 2 Lacs.

Alternatively, foreigner guests can download the given form and submit at the hotel.
